These are three of the four final pieces of my work. Had a mid process and I know there is a lot of things wrong with the images. If you see anything that needs improvement please specify in a comment so that i may improve upon this design.

Russia in University of Naver Monsters

book 1:

book 2:

book 4:

Please note that since there are four books (one is still in rough sketch mode cause i messed up the coloring ^.^) so book one deals with Fall, winter, spring (new love), and summer (romance and friendship.)

I was trying to get the images to match the theme of the season each one is taking place.

Finally DJ decision is made

Thanks everyone for the very very few posts of advice... I'm saying this 90% sincerely and the remaining 10% sarcastically.

I've decided to go with my 2nd idea the University of Naver Monsters.

Not sure if anyone actually reads the text boxes in the dust jacket sketch I posted earlier but I'm definitely going with this idea.

I've got my illustrators (drawn by Tanya) with a few of my own tweaks here and there all gathered except for the cover for the second book.

So please check back on this blog from where ever you are as I post the in-progress-need-comments-&-advice dust jackets for the four book series up slowly this weekend.

Until then I shall be jamming out with Stephen Stills the Talent, trying to avoid Reality, math, and boredom in general.

Please leave a comment on what I should do to improve the designs or which one you think is the strongest...PLEASE!!!

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Okay I made a mistake in my last two posts like usual...
Anyways here is the second idea out of three ideas.

The side flaps were supposed to have these white fluffy looking feathers with a pink purple "gradient" (-_- yes I said it) background.
Please note I credited the illustrators for the images...oops forgot to credit the cat artist (just to let you know the cat won't be in the final image its just there as a generic thing.) I also forgot the ISBN number but its supposed to be on the back cover.
The spine for this is supposed to have publisher logo on top (the demon guy) and a single feather with a 1 on the bottom.

Updating...

Excuse the bad coloring.

This design has a lot of celtic designs in it. I couldn't find a yellowish pencil so imagine the blue as a golden yellow.

UPDATED

made a mistake on last post...

Everything for this is explained on the paper but just in case you can't see it. The book is the daily roller coaster adventures of college student Russia...in University of New Monsters.

This one deals with Grimm Fairytales. A descendant of the Grimm brothers has opened the collection of the original stories unleashing all the characters from the stories onto her small town. Now she has to understand every story and nab the characters back into the book before they figure out how to leave her small town.
